I started Mia & The Sea on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland — surrounded by warm water, surf culture and that particular kind of lifestyle that makes you feel like the ocean is just part of who you are. It was there, with my dog Mia by my side at our favourite beach, that the name and the brand were born. Back then it was a surf lifestyle brand. Clothing that celebrated the water and the people who loved it.

Then I moved home to Melbourne.

I settled on the Mornington Peninsula — my local, my backyard, the place I live and breathe every single day. And something shifted. Because this bay is beautiful, but it's also where I started really seeing the damage. Hot summer days would pass and our beaches would be left covered in rubbish. I'd go for a swim and find plastic floating past me in the water. People were coming to enjoy the ocean and leaving it worse than they found it.

I couldn't just watch that and keep making clothing that only celebrated the lifestyle. I needed the brand to mean something more.

So Mia & The Sea became what it is now. Purpose-driven apparel built for surfers, divers, ocean swimmers, freedivers, marine conservationists and anyone who calls the ocean home. Every piece carries the message — Protect. Respect. Love Our Oceans. Not just as words on a tee. As a commitment.

I run this entirely on my own. Every order, every decision, every donation — that's me.

This isn't fast fashion. It's not greenwashing. It's one person who got tired of seeing the ocean treated like a rubbish bin, and decided to do something about it.
